Jameel Khan recalls working with Shah Rukh Khan in Chalte Chalte; reveals he agreed for a retake after 8th AD suggested few changes

Actor Jameel Khan, known for his role in the Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji starrer ‘Chalte Chalte,’ recently shared insights into his experience working alongside SRK. Jameel reminisced about how Shah Rukh Khan provided support by helping him to relax and assuring him that they would proceed with the scene when he felt prepared.
In a Rajshri Unplugged interview, Jameel Khan shared his first encounter on set with Shah Rukh Khan.Prepared in his costume, Jameel stood near the truck alongside Shah Rukh while director Aziz Mirza, seated at the monitor, introduced them over the mic. Aziz bhai praised Jameel’s stage talent, describing him as a fantastic actor, and encouraged them to create a memorable scene together.

Continuing the conversation, the actor shared that Shah Rukh Khan was very understanding. He explained his theatre background and limited film experience, expressing a preference for more rehearsals. Shah Rukh assured him, emphasizing their shared theatre roots and a commitment to ample rehearsal time before proceeding with the shot.

Jameel Khan also reminisced about director Aziz Mirza’s humility and collaborative spirit. He recounted an instance where, after Shah Rukh Khan completed a scene to approval, the 8th Assistant Director offered some suggestions. Aziz attentively listened, proposed a few changes and improvisations to SRK, and told him, “He is my assistant. He has some suggestions; let’s try it.” Jameel noted this as a significant gesture, mentioning that even Shah Rukh sportingly agreed to a retake.
