Stock market holidays in April 2024: As the Indian stock market enters the new financial year at the beginning of April, it’s important to note the upcoming holidays in this month. As per the BSE and NSE websites, the trading activities on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed on two weekdays in April.

Stock market holidays in April 2024: NSE and BSE closure dates

The markets will be closed for Eid-Ul-Fitr on April 11, and on April 17, 2024, for Ram Navami.This means both NSE and BSE will remain closed on these days. Combined with weekends, the total number of non-trading days in April amounts to 10 (four Saturdays, four Sundays, and two stock market holidays). Hence, out of the 30 days in April 2024, trading activity will take place for 20 days.
Trading on the domestic stock market will resume on April 12, 2024, at 9:15 AM, following a fifteen-minute pre-opening session starting at 9:00 AM, according to information available on the BSE and NSE websites.

MCX trading schedule for Eid-Ul-Fitr

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will observe closure for the morning session on Eid-Ul-Fitr, with operations resuming in the evening. MCX trading hours typically span from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, followed by another session from 5:00 PM to either 11:30 PM or 11:55 PM, depending on the session.

Looking forward, the market focus is expected to shift to Q4 earnings, which will kick off later this week. While Forex and money markets remained closed on Tuesday for the ‘Gudi Padwa’ festival, the stock market remained open.
