In the heart of the grand ceremonial parade for Republic Day celebrations, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) tableau, featuring ‘Nalanda Maha Vihara‘ surmounted by the G20 Logo, rolled down Kartavya Path in the national capital.
Union External Affairs Minister Jaishankar took to social media to express his enthusiasm for the tableau’s representation of G20 accomplishments.

MEA’s G20 Presidency and Achievements
The MEA tableau aimed to illustrate the successful conclusion of India’s G20 Presidency, showcasing the nation’s leadership in addressing global issues with ambition, decisiveness, inclusivity, and action-oriented approaches. The theme, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ emphasized the interconnectedness of all life on Earth.
Trail of Achievements
The trailer depicted major achievements aligned with G20 Presidency priorities, including India’s decision to make the African Union a full member, symbolized by a Namaste mudra. Lifestyle for Environment installations, digital public infrastructure success, green development, and the value of millets as a superfood were portrayed. The tableau also highlighted the ‘International Year of Millets’ in 2023, declared by the United Nations on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative.
Symbolism and Representation
The tableau showcased the spiral upward movement of women from across the world, depicting women-led development. ‘Bharatmandapam,’ the venue of the G20 summit, was presented, symbolizing continuous progress. A replica of the Konark wheel represented India’s welcome handshake with G20 leaders, signifying continuous progress. The tableau encapsulated the essence of PM Modi’s leadership during the People’s Presidency, making India a global ally (‘Vishwa Mitra’).
Global Voice and Inclusive Symbolism
Throughout India’s G20 Presidency, emphasizing the voice of the Global South and developing nations was a focal point. The theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ resonated with the Sanskrit phrase ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.’ PM Modi highlighted the inclusive nature of India’s G20 Presidency, connecting millions of citizens with the concept of “People’s G20” both within and outside the country.
