He recalled having a shot at playing antagonist to actor Sanjay Dutt and called it a “huge opportunity,” noting that he was almost through with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na when he was contacted for Kidnap’s audition. In addition, he mentioned that several other actors auditioned for the roles of Minissha Lamba’s Kabir and Sonia, as well as other actresses, before Minissha was chosen.
He recalled working with the actress after the deal was sealed, calling her “intelligent, articulate, and self-assured” and saying that she was “lovely to work with.” Imran continued to describe his difficulties, stating that Jaane Tu Ya Jaane hadn’t yet been released at the time of the auditions, thus he wasn’t seen as having “any star value.”“Bear in mind that since Jaane Tu had not yet released, I was not considered to have any star value, so the producers were not very enthusiastic about casting me… I got the part thanks to dual support from the director, and writer Shibani Bathija, for which I am grateful to this day,” mentioned Imran.
Imran mentioned in his article that he was not “important enough” to receive a whole screenplay and that he was only permitted to read the portions in which he was involved, further evoking memories of the Kidnap adventure. He added that he received the prints a day or two before the shoot’s scheduled start time. “The Vikrant Raina storyline was a complete mystery to me until the release of the film! It was a very different working style than I had experienced, and I often felt intimidated by the scale of the production,” he said.
