Hyderabad: Private Indian companies are increasingly collaborating with defence sector PSUs, thereby bolstering the city’s prospects of becoming a key weapons manufacturing hub.The Adani group has identified Hyderabad as a hub for missiles and unmanned vehicles manufacturing with plans to invest another `1,500 crore over the next two to three years, Adani Defence & Aerospace CEO Ashish Rajvanshi, said here on Wednesday.
“Hyderabad is going to be a buzzing centre for both missiles and unmanned capabilities for Adani Group,” Rajvanshi told TOI on the sidelines of the handing over ceremony of the first Drishti 10 Starliner UAV to the Indian Navy at the Adani Aerospace Park near the Hyderabad international airport.
“Unmanned systems for the ground and water is the next focus area for Adani group. In the naval domain we are one of the participants in the MAKE-2 programme for the Indian Navy, which we have to deliver within the next two and a half years. For the unmanned ground vehicle, we are working on a robot mule which can reduce the stress on infantry by carrying the burden like a mule,” he elaborated.
On the missiles front, Adani will be manufacturing long-range missiles, naval missiles, next generation anti-radiation missiles, Rudram-2 hypersonic missiles at Hyderabad, he said.
ADA is already closely collaborating with DRDO for the DCPP (development cum production partner) programme, in which within 18 months they have developed a world-class unmanned launched precision guided missile.
He said the company also started work on counterdrone systems in Hyderabad.
