The game show, which is a recreation of the Korean blockbuster drama, will premiere on November 22. Reports state that the streamer is now giving ‘serious consideration’ to releasing episodes of the series in ‘batches’, with some episodes releasing on a later date.
Although there is no confirmation from the streamer about the same, it is not uncommon for them to adopt this strategy. They had previously
deployed the ‘batch release strategy’ on other reality shows like ‘Too Hot to Handle’ and ‘The Circle’.
‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ is billed as the ‘biggest’ reality series ever created. In a bid to keep up with the original K-Drama ‘Squid Game’,
the show will have 456 contestants in the competition. The Hwang Dong-hyuk directed series saw the participants competing in a number of Korean children’s games with a deadly twist.
While the series saw the last surviving contestant the reward of 45.6 billion Won as cash prize, this reality show will see one lucky winner walking away with a prize money of $4.56 million.
The series came under the scanner when contestants required medical attention while filming for the Red Light, Green Light’ game, in which players attempted to evade the attention of a menacing robotic doll. The shoot allegedly took place during a cold snap in Britain.
