Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the world must be ready to prevent, prepare and respond to the next health emergency as he urged the G20 nations to facilitate “equitable availability” of technology and “open innovations” for public good, reports DurgeshNandan Jha.
In his address to the G20 health minister’s meeting in Gandhinagar though video link, the PM said health issues in one part of the world can affect all other parts of the world in a very short time. “The Covid pandemic has reminded us that health should be at the centre of our decisions. It also showed us the value of international cooperation, whether in medicine and vaccine delivery or bringing our people back home,” he said.
Modi emphasised on the role of digital solutions and innovations in making healthcare accessible to all.
“Let us open our innovations for public good,” he said. Modi also stressed on the importance of adopting a holistic and inclusive approach in healthcare infrastructure development.
