Gumboot Toy: Plastic pollution: Cub with a gumboot toy raises alarm | India News

[ad_1]

A tiger cub, about 15 months old, playing with a gumboot in the Nimdhela tourism zone of Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra on Tuesday has made forest officials worry over the presence of rubber or plastic objects.
The gumboot must have been of a labourer engaged in wildlife management work in the area, said Kushagra Pathak, deputy director (buffer), TATR.
He added, ‘The TATR core area is a plastic-free zone, but buffer zones are multiple-use areas outside the core, where people and wildlife co-exist. We are striving to make even buffer areas plastic-free. At the same time, we expect tourists to maintain self-discipline and behave responsibly’
