NEW DELHI: Women and child development minister Smriti Irani has said that the guide on gender-inclusive communication and anganwadi protocol for divyang children will help empower children with special abilities and their families.
Speaking at the Global Diversity and Inclusion Summit, Irani said the protocol will guide every district administration and help them address the special needs of education and nutrition, and provide ‘Swavlamban’ (self-dependence) cards for empowerment of such children.
The minister also spoke of the need for promoting gender-inclusive languages and underscored government’s commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, especially in the context of women, children and minority communities.
Elaborating on the summit’s theme ‘Harmony’, Padma Shri awardee Niru Kumar, founder and CEO of Ask Insights, said, “As humanity progresses in its journey to authentically embrace diversity of gender and ability, there will be resistances, anxiety and insecurities both in the marginalised group and people of privilege. My appeal to leaders of organisation and government is to constantly reassure society that the bringing together of differences will result in unimaginable growth, where each one thrives.”
