Guard against ‘false’ content: Government to media, social platforms | India News

NEW DELHI: The information and broadcasting ministry on Saturday issued an advisory to media outlets and social media platforms cautioning them against publishing any false or manipulated content related to the Ram Temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
The advisory said it had found certain “unverified, provocative and fake” messages being disseminated on social media.It asked newspapers, private TV channels and publishers of news and current affairs on digital media to refrain from publishing or telecasting any content that may be false or manipulated or which has the potential to disturb communal harmony or public order.
“As part of their due diligence obligations, social media platforms are advised to make reasonable efforts to not host, display or publish information of the nature mentioned above,” it said. Ahead of the ceremony, many received fake messages related to VIP invites, donation drives and ‘prasaad’ of the event. tnn
