Govt appoints new CEOs for Bank of Baroda, Bank of India

MUMBAI: The government has notified the appointment of new chief executive officers to Bank of Baroda and Bank of India. The notifications came after the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Debadatta Chand (52), executive director of Bank of Baroda, has been elevated as the managing director and chief executive officer of the bank for three years from the date of assumption of office on or after July 01, 2023. He will succeed Sanjiv Chadha, whose tenure term extended in January and now it will end on June 30, 2023.
Rajneesh Karnatak, the executive director of Union Bank, is now the new managing director and chief executive officer of Bank of India for three years, to succeed Atanu Kumar Das, whose term as CEO ended recently.
Chand, who has a career of 27 years, has been the ED of BoB since March 2021 and handled corporate credit, treasury and international business. Before being appointed as ED in BoB, he was in Punjab National Bank, where he headed the Mumbai zone which is one of the biggest zone for the bank. Chand is a BTech, MBA, CAIIB-qualified banker with PG Diploma in Equity Research and a Certified Portfolio Manager.
At Oriental Bank of Commerce, Karnatak has headed the large corporate credit branches, credit monitoring, digital banking, and mid-corporate credit. After the merger of Oriental Bank of Commerce with Punjab National Bank, he headed corporate credit at PNB.
