MUMBAI: Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray hit out at the Shinde government over the incident of Kalyan’s BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad firing at Shiv Sena MLA Mahesh Gaikwad in a police station in Ulhasnagar. “A gang-war has started within the ruling parties. Between the Minde (Shinde) gang and the Fadnavis gang,” said Thackeray on Sunday while visiting the Shivaji Fort at Sindhudurg.
He demanded an investigation into BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad’s claims about giving money to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. “This Centre went after former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and now they are after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. But will they investigate Ganpat Gaikwad’s statement that crores of rupees of his money was with Shinde,” he asked. Thackeray also demanded to know how the CCTV footage of the firing was made public.
Thackeray also said that the firing incident had occurred inside a police station and revealed the poor condition of law and order in the state. The home portfolio is controlled by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He also said that despite the betrayal by Eknath Shinde who broke his party, he would install another Chief Minister from the Shiv Sena (UBT) in the state.
Thackeray also attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he had inaugurated Shivaji’s statue in Sindhudurg with an eye on the Lok Sabha polls. “During all the calamities in Sindhurdurg, the Prime Minister did not visit. But he came and inaugurated Shivaji’s statue. He suddenly remembered he is a great personality because Shivaji’s name is important in getting the votes of this electorate,” he said.
He also said that the Shinde government had been formed by treachery and was not interested in running the government. “They are only interested in looting the state,” he said.
Thackeray also said that his party’s former ally, the BJP had put a blot on the saffron flag. “The BJP has put a blot on the saffron flag. Shivaji Maharaj had the real saffron flag and he is in our blood,” said Thackeray.
