For first time, Mizoram gives consent to CBI probes | India News

AIZAWL: The Mizoram government on Thursday gave ‘general consent’ to CBI to investigate cases of corruption and misappropriation of public funds. This is the first time that a state government in Mizoram has given ‘general consent’ to CBI to probe corruption cases.
The notification to this effect was issued by C Lalrosanga, secretary of the state vigilance department, under powers conferred by Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946.
The notification went viral on social media where a large section of netizens supported the move.
Hours after the notification, Mizoram CM Lalduhoma posted on X, “Committed to transparency and accountability, #Mizoram grants consent for a #CBI investigation. Our government is resolute in eliminating corruption for the welfare of our citizens. #MizoramAgainstCorruption.”
