Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Fighter‘ released a day prior to Republic Day as the makers thought it would lead to a better scope for positive word of mouth. It did help as the film saw a huge jump on January 26, as compared to its Day 1. ‘Fighter’ had managed to make the most of the patriotic vibe and holiday as it made Rs 39 crore on Republic Day.
One expected and hoped that the film continues this hold even on Saturday and Sunday. But the Day 3 (Saturday) numbers have seen a huge dip as compared to Friday. The growth on Republic Day was expected due to the Holiday, but the real test is on the weekend. The trade expected that it should stay above a mark of Rs 30 crore on Saturday and Sunday, both the days to be considered a good number. But, as per Sacnilk, ‘Fighter’ has earned Rs 28 crore as per early estimates on Saturday. This makes the film’s total to Rs 90 crore nett so far, in India. The Sunday numbers will be a huge deciding factor, but now it’s sure that the film will cross Rs 100 crore in its first four days and that was expected from it.
Furthermore, the Sunday numbers are expected to be better than Saturday and there is word of mouth constantly on social media surrounding the film. The day 4 numbers can be predicted to be better than Saturday and over Rs 30 crore atleast. The cast and crew continues the promotions as Hrithik along with director Siddharth Anand, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi, visited a theatre in Mumbai today to witness fan reactions.
Nevertheless, a 100 crore benchmark in 4 days is certainly a job well done and ‘Fighter’. The film has seen a good growth in areas like Gujarat and Rajasthan but continues to have lower numbers from the south.
