On Monday night, a global outage affecting Facebook, Instagram, Meta and Messenger drove social media users to Twitter to find out the cause of the rather unusual outrage. According to reports, many users claimed that they were locked out of their accounts, prompting panic.
Shortly after word spread about the outrage, Meta spokesman Andy Stone said in a post on X, “We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”The sites seemed to return to normal, about two hours after the outage reports first emerged.
At the height of the problem on Tuesday, Facebook’s status page, intended for advertisers, said the site was suffering “major disruptions” and that “engineering teams are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
X, formerly Twitter, saw a spike in online activity as users were locked out of the Meta sites. Indian Twitterati made the most of the crash and had a field day posting memes linking it to the flood of Ambani pre-wedding posts.
