NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested a “key conspirator” following raids across multiple locations in three states in connection with the blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru.
The probe agency has seized several digital devices and cash during the raids.
“Muzammil Shareef was picked up and placed in custody as a co-conspirator after NIA teams cracked down at 18 locations, including 12 in Karnataka, 5 in Tamil Nadu and one in Uttar Pradesh,” NIA said in a statement.
“NIA investigations have revealed that Muzammil Shareef had extended logistic support to the other two identified accused in the case. Various digital devices were seized during the searches, along with cash,” it added.

NIA had earlier identified two suspects as Mussavir Hussain Shazib, who allegedly carried out the blast and Abdul Matheen Taha. The agency said efforts are on to nab the accused.
NIA had also announced a cash reward of Rs. 10 lakh for any information regarding the bomber responsible for the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru. The NIA said the identity of the informant will be kept confidential.
The ministry of home affairs handed over the investigation into the Rameshwaram Cafe blast to NIA. The blast took place at the café during the busy lunch hour on March 1, injuring at least nine people. Earlier, the Bengaluru Police had filed a case under the rigorous Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosive Substances Act regarding the cafe explosion. The explosion occurred at 1pm on March 1, and police identified a suspect in CCTV footage seen placing a bag inside the cafe.
Probe revealed that the explosion was caused by an IED device with a timer.
