OMG 2‘ which was produced by Akshay Kumar and starred Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi in lead roles was one of the most talked about movies of 2023. The film was surrounded amidst various discussions before its release as the censor board made several cuts and changes to it. Moreover, despite the cuts, it was given an ‘A’ certificate. Post the release, many people who watched it criticised the CBFC (Censor Board of Film Certification) for this decision as, it was based on sexual education, meant to educate children above 12 years of age.Hence, the audience felt that it should have been given a UA certificate.
The cast and crew of ‘OMG 2’ also were upset about it. However, now that it released on OTT and reached a wider audience, makes Tripathi happy. During a conversation with ETimes, as Tripathi talked about the year gone by, he said, “OMG 2 was appreciated despite the ‘A’ certificate. And now there’s no regret about the ‘A’ certificate because people in more numbers got to see it.”
However, he has this one regret still. “Malaal hai ke woh mool roop mein hoti toh uska assar zyada hota. (It would have had more impact if the film was kept as it is by the censor board). Because the film’s intent was something and aim was something. But it’s good that people understood the film’s intent and it reached a wider audience in theatres as well as on OTT.”

Tripathi is gearing up for the release of his next film ‘Main Atal Hoon’ which sees him essay the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The film is releasing on January 19 in cinemas.
