ERODE: Erode constituency’s ‘sitting’ MDMK MP A Ganeshamoorthy, 76, was admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore for treatment on Sunday. Preliminary information revealed that he consumed ‘sulphas’ – an insecticide with water to commit suicide.
One of the family members told TOI that Ganeshamoorthy developed vomiting and some uneasiness around 10.15 am. “He informed us that he had consumed insecticide-laced water,” he said.
Shocked over this, the family members rushed him to a private hospital in Erode town for treatment. On seeing his condition, the doctors further shifted him to another private hospital in Coimbatore for further treatment around 2.30 pm. Hospital sources said that his condition is said to be critical.
Unconfirmed sources from the party said that he may have taken this decision after the party high command denied a ticket for him in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Tamil Nadu prohibition and excise minister S Muthusamy, BJP MLA Dr. C Saraswathy, AIADMK former minister K V Ramalingam, and others went to the private hospital and inquired about Ganeshamoorthy’s health condition.
