AYODHYA: Unfazed by the challenges in store, thousands of devotees reached Ayodhya on Monday to get the first ‘darshan’ of Ram Lalla in his birthplace.
Coming from different states, covering thousands of kilometres, these devotees stood alongside the local population to welcome Ram Lalla during the consecration event on Monday.
“I was present during the 1992 Kar Sewa and have been a devotee of Lord Vishnu all my life.I wanted to be present at the same site on the historic day. I was not allowed to go inside but will return home only after getting darshan of the deity inside his permanent abode,” said Umesh Hari Satyanavar from Karnataka, who managed to reach the venue despite strict restrictions and strong vigil over Ram path.
Parizat Das, in mid-20s, came all the way from Golaghat, Assam.
“Since no hotels are available we are staying in a dharamshala connected to our samaj. I want to get blessings of Ram Lalla and visit the temple as I have heard a lot about it over social media,” he said.
Rahul Patil from Bidar in Karnataka, said he was initially apprehensive about coming to Janmabhoomi Path in the morning.
“I am glad I decided to walk eight kilometers to reach here early in the morning. I realised how many youths have come here from Karnataka and Maharashtra to Ayodhya. I have made three close friends now,” said Patil.
Meanwhile artists and performers who were roped in by the state government from other districts of UP also expressed their feelings.
“We have become a part of history, and we will tell our coming generations that we were part of the Ram temple movement. We can’t explain the importance of Ram temple in words as it’s the matter of emotions (tears). Humara Janam safal ho gaya,” said Urmila Pandey, head of the dance troupe from Gonda.
The group was here to perform Ayodhya’s Badhawa dance on Dharm Path during the Pran Pratishtha ceremony.
“We put in our heart and soul to perform Badhawa,” she added.
Fhalguni Sinha, a member of troupe, said, “Ram ji has come, what will be more important than this in anyone’s life. It feels good that we are in Ayodhya.”
Sadanand Ghosal from Kolkata said, “I am here and can’t wait to get the darshan.”
Entrepreneur from Bengaluru Vijaya Baakarey said, “I can’t express my feelings. Just hope to get the darshan as soon as possible.”
Dr Kalpana Barapatre from Palghar, Maharashtra said, “I have been waiting for this moment for the last 25 years.”
