Dwayne Johnson Talks Henry Cavill & DC’s Future After James Gunn Takeover

[ad_1]

Dwayne Johnson opened up about the future of the DC film universe after Henry Cavill was removed from the picture as Superman.

If you forgot, the Man of Steel actor suited up again for the first time since 2017 to make a cameo in Dwayne‘s Black Adam last year. The appearance was heavily rumored to lead into a new Superman movie with Henry starring.

Shortly thereafter, new studio directors James Gunn and Peter Safran announced some changes to the lineup, which effectively brought an end to Henry‘s run in the franchise.

Dwayne commented on the changes, making an apt metaphor while on the red carpet at the 2023 Oscars.

The actor told Variety that they tried to set things up to go forward smoothly but that the plans just didn’t work out.

“It’s almost like when you have a pro football team and your quarterback wins championships and your head coach wins championships and then a new owner comes in and says, ‘Not my coach, not my quarterback. I’m going to go with somebody new,’” Dwayne said about the experience with DC.

He noted that Black Adam was well received by fans despite a less warm reception elsewhere.

“Our audience score was in the 90s. Critics took a couple shots, but that’s just the business of it,” he added.

James addressed a rumor that Henry was set to make a return to the universe in a different way earlier this year.
