DMK mantri’s rant against PM Modi, Sanatan Dharma draws BJP fire | India News

NEW DELHI: Lashing out at the INDIA bloc for making derogatory remarks against PM Narendra Modi and ‘Sanatan Dharma‘, BJP leader Anurag Thakur demanded an apology for the disparaging comment made by Tamil Nadu minister Anitha R Radhakrishnan and questioned the silence of senior Congress leaders.
BJP said it would approach the Election Commission seeking action against Radhakrishnan after he used expletives against Modi at a public rally. Calling DMK MP Kanimozhi a pseudo-feminist as she was on the stage and did not protest, BJP leaders shared the clip on social media in which the minister purportedly used an expletive in Tamil.
Criticising Congress’s “hateful” politics and contrasting it with BJP’s “commitment to development”, Thakur slammed Radhakrishnan for his “nauseating act”. He added that DMK did not even hesitate to abuse Modi in their intent to end Sanatan Dharma.
“Yesterday, one minister of the INDI Alliance, in front of a female leader of his party, used very derogatory remarks in a very objectionable language for the prime minister of the country. The words he used for the most popular leader in the world are condemnable and there is no place for such things in a democracy. Derogatory comments against the PM are objectionable. Democracy has no place for such abusive language. INDI must apologise for its minister’s abusive comment. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are silent on the incident. It proves they are trying to end Sanatan,” Thakur said.
K Annamalai, BJP’s state unit president, claimed that DMK leaders had reached a new low in their “uncouth behaviour” and said his party would take up the matter with the EC and the state police chief seeking the “strictest action” against Radhakrishnan.
Stating that every time the opposition hurled abuses at the PM, he emerged more popular, Thakur said, “When destruction befalls man, it is the conscience which dies first. The conscience of those in INDI Alliance is dead.” He added that the number of abuses hurled at Modi by opposition leaders had reached 120.
