PM Modi launched BJP’s poll campaign in Chhattisgarh on Friday by tearing into Congress, saying that “corruption is its biggest ideology” and vowing to crack down on the corrupt.
“The events of the past four years have proven that corruption is the biggest ideology of Congress, and it cannot survive without graft. Corruption is at the core of Congress,” Modi said, adding, “If Congress guarantees corruption, I guarantee action against corruption.”
“Chhattisgarh is like an ATM for Congress. Those committing wrongs will not be spared. I dare to say this because whatever I have earned is given by you and the country. Those trying to conspire against me and trying to dig a grave should know that the one who gets scared cannot be Modi. Nothing can prevent me from resolving to take the people of Chhattisgarh ahead because Modi knows what poverty is and pain of the poor,” said the Prime Minister who also inaugurated development projects worth Rs 7,500 crore.
Reaching out to tribals, who comprise nearly over 30% of the state’s population, Modi said, “Congress has always considered the tribal community as a vote-bank and deprived them of rights and facilities. The BJP government has given rights to several tribal groups in Chhattisgarh by adding them to the ST list. It is the BJP government that established a separate ministry of tribal welfare.”
