The rumours are true! Ranbir Kapoor‘s blockbuster film, ‘Animal,’ is set to make its digital debut with an extended cut!
The film which makes its long-awaited OTT debut on Netflix, on Republic Day, January 26, 2024, will release with some new footage. Amidst buzz that the film has an extended cut, reports now confirm that the OTT release will be a few minutes longer than the theatrical release, generating renewed excitement among fans.
Originally clocking in at 3 hours and 21 minutes, ‘Animal’ will now boast an additional 8 minutes, extending the total runtime to 3 hours and 29 minutes. Reports suggest that this extended version will feature an added scene with lead actress Rashmika Mandanna, adding a fresh layer to the narrative.Rumours of an extended cut spread like wildfire after director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in a recent interview, admitted to the existence of an extended OTT version, sharing plans to incorporate scenes initially omitted from the theatrical release.
Expressing regret over the previous cuts, Vanga mentioned, “Now, I will be using those 5-6 minutes extra,” hinting at a more comprehensive storytelling experience for the audience.

‘Animal,’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Anil Kapoor, unfolds a gripping tale of a son’s unwavering devotion to his absent father. Despite facing criticism for its portrayal of violence and misogyny, the film emerged as one of the major Indian blockbusters of 2023. It is currently, the third-highest earning film at the box office with a total worldwide collection of Rs 915 crore.
The film’s OTT release clashes with the theatrical release of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone‘s ‘Fighter’ that also releases on the extended Republic Day weekend.
