Citing Mahua case procedure, BSP MP claims he has been wronged | India News

NEW DELHI: Awaiting action on his complaint about the communal attack on him in Lok Sabha, BSP MP Danish Ali wrote to Speaker Om Birla flagging alleged violation of parliamentary procedures by a key House committee.
Ali said the Lok Sabha privileges committee has wrongly called accused BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri, while implying that the ethics committee has rightfully invited the complainant in the case involving Trinamool Congress member Mahua Moitra.
Ali said the established procedure requires that the complainant member is called before the privileges committee first and then the accused member. In his letter, sources said, Ali claimed that in contravention of norms, the member who is accused of making unparliamentary remarks against him appears to have been called first. Ali added that he is still awaiting a call from the panel so that he can put forth his views about the incident, while requesting Birla to direct officials to call him before the privileges committee to give evidence against Bidhuri. The complaint pertains to Bidhuri’s controversial remarks against Ali during the special session of Lok Sabha.
In contrast, Ali said the ethics committee appears to have followed the proper procedure by first calling BJP MP Nishikant Dubey to give oral evidence against the Trinamool member in his complaint against Moitra.
