If you’re seeing Oppenheimer on the big screen, you might want to get there early as certain screenings will not be showing any trailers… and there’s a fascinating reason.

The only screenings affected will be IMAX 70MM showings, which are only playing at 19 theaters across the United States. Most IMAX theaters will not be showing the 70MM version, so make sure to check before buying your tickets.

“The sharpness and the clarity and the depth of the image is unparalleled,” director Christopher Nolan told AP about screening the movie on 70MM. “The headline, for me, is by shooting on IMAX 70mm film, you’re really letting the screen disappear. You’re getting a feeling of 3D without the glasses. You’ve got a huge screen and you’re filling the peripheral vision of the audience. You’re immersing them in the world of the film.”

Reports have said that due to the print size, the film platters cannot handle enough space for trailers. The film is three hours long and the 70MM film must take up lots of space!

Indiana’s IMAX theater confirmed there will be no trailers shown.
