Despite struggling with stiff person syndrome, Celine Dion is determined to return to the stage.

According to her Instagram post on Friday, the 55-year-old pop diva expressed that battling this autoimmune disease has been an extremely challenging journey. However, she remains unwavering in her determination to eventually return to the stage and live a life as close to normal as possible.

In a photo of herself with her 23-year-old son Rene-Charles Angelil and 13-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson, she expressed her sincere gratitude for the love and support from her children, family, team, and all of her fans.

On March 15, 2024, Dion posted a message to raise awareness for stiff person syndrome Awareness Day.

“Today the world recognizes International SPS Awareness Day.”

“As many of you know, in the fall of 2022, I was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and to live as normal of a life as possible. I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team and all of you!”

“I want to send my encouragement and support to all those around the world that have been affected by SPS. I want you to know you can do it! We can do it! Love Celine xx…”

Celine Dion, the Grammy winner, expressed her determination to return to the stage in the future. She also thanked her family and supporters for their unwavering support. The National Institutes of Health defines stiff person syndrome as a rare and progressive neurological condition that can cause stiffness in the torso, arms, and legs.

In December 2022, Dion publicly announced her diagnosis as “a highly uncommon neurological disorder that only impacts around one in a million individuals.”

In a heartfelt video, she shared that she has been struggling with health issues for an extended period. Discussing her experiences and overcoming the challenges has been a tough journey for her.

After being diagnosed, Dion had to cancel her Courage tour, as reported by Page Six in May 2023. However, she reassured her fans that she was not giving up and eagerly anticipated seeing them again in the future.

In a surprising turn of events, Celine made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards last month, presenting the Album of the Year award to Taylor Swift. This gave hope that she was on the road to recovery, as reported by Page Six. The singer looked stunning in a couture coat and gown, adding to the excitement of her appearance.

During the live broadcast, the performer of “The Power of Love” said, “My heartfelt happiness to be present here is truly genuine.”
