Celebrate Christmas with Music from the Queens – News JoJo

[ad_1]

Ho, ho, ho! It’s that time of year again and, while you may stress over finding the perfect gift for that special someone, we have something under our virtual tree that is truly the gift that keeps on giving…the gift of music!

Even the Grinch couldn’t resist getting into the holiday spirit with these songs of the season, performed by some of your Drag Race favorites (and, of course, RuPaul herself.)

From new takes on traditional carols to (truly) original and maybe a little bit naughty holiday bops, there’s something here for everyone – whether you fancy yourself more like Buddy the Elf or more like Ebenezer Scrooge, you’re sure to find a tune here to lift your spirits. Take it away, you slay belles!

Let’s kick the celebration off with Mama Ru. We have been blessed and highly favored with a number of Christmas tunes from Ru, and this one is one of my personal favorites. Enjoy “Merry Christmas, Mary” from her 2015 Slay Belles album.

The top three queens from season three of Drag Race UKElla Vaday, Kitty Scott-Claus, and Krystal Versace lend verses to Ru’s hit “Hey Sis, It’s Christmas.”

Congenial queen Nina West puts the “spirit” into holiday spirit (quite literally) with the intoxicating tune “Jingle Juice.”

Ginger Minj treats us to her version of the classic “White Christmas.”

Bob the Drag Queen teams up with Shangela (a/k/a Laquifa) for a new Christmas classic, “Deck A Ho”.

If you like your Christmas tunes a little more irreverent, you’ll love Pose star Jiggly Caliente’s “Ratchet Christmas.”

Forget an outer space convertible, Willam, Courtney Act and Alaska have something else on their Christmas list as they sing “Dear Santa, Bring Me a Man”.

Willam, Courtney and Alaska (a/k/a the AAA Girls) bring more glad tidings with another fun song, “Christmas Sweater.”

Countdown the 12 Days of Christmas with Katya (and bonus Jerry O’Connell…hubba hubba!)

Who needs gold, frankincense and myrrh when we have Manila, Peppermint and Alaska gifting us with ‘We Three Queens”?

According to Alaska, “Everyday is Christmas.”

The radiant Manila Luzon serenades us with “Slay Bells.”

She may have gotten the villain edit on her season (and even on All Stars), but Phi Phi O’Hara’s voice is sweet as a sugar cookie. Don’t believe me? Check out “Naughty or Nice.”

Miss Fame isn’t getting coal in her stocking. Unwrap this musical treat, “Toyland.”

Jinkx Monsoon has been wowing crowds with her holiday show with BenDeLaCreme. She also can deliver the cheer by herself, as evidenced by “Red and Green” (with a special appearance from Murray Hill…which is always a treat.)

Ru’s Green Screen Christmas special offered us so many gifts, including this song, “Christmas Cookies” featuring Raja, Alyssa Edwards and Laganja Estranga.

Ru and the queen diva Big Freedia serve an out-of-the-world tune with “Christmas in Space.”

Of course, not everyone celebrates Christmas, and Ginger Minj has a tune for you. Enjoy “Christma-Hannu-Kwanzaa-Ka.”

It’s no secret, Alyssa Edwards is a gift to all of us, and she lends her signature move to another carol makeover with some help from the late, great Lady Red Couture, Rhea Liter, Sasha Colby and more fierce queens. It’s time to “Tongue Pop the Halls.”

Courtney Act makes it to the nice list with “Head to Mistletoe.”

UK queens Tia Kofi and season one winner The Vivienne take on the classic “Jingle Bell Rock.”

I defy you to get this tune out of your head after you hear it. DWV (Detox, Vicky Vox and Willam) have a special delivery with “That Christmas Song.”

From all of us at News JoJo, we wish you and yours a very happy holiday season and we look forward to spending 2024 with you. We’ve got one last gift under the tree, from one of our favorites. Before she starred in the Hairspray tour, Nina West paid tribute to the films of John Waters with a Christmas twist. Enjoy “Cha Cha Heels” and we’ll see you next year!
