Britney Spears Apologizes for Hurting People With Book, Shows Support for Justin Timberlake’s New Songs ‘Selfish’ & ‘Sanctified’ and Plus More Celeb News

[ad_1]

Britney Spears has taken to Instagram to apologize for some of the content in her memoir, The Woman in Me, which was released in October 2020. She posted footage of ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake‘s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he played some of his biggest hits with a band of kazoos and xylophones.

Spears added a caption to her post, saying she wanted to apologize for any offense caused by her book and expressing her love for Timberlake’s new song, “Selfish.” She also gave a nod to his song “Sanctified.”

In her book, Spears shared her experience of her teenage romance with Timberlake in the late ’90s and early 2000s, including allegations of his encouragement for her to have an abortion. This led to Timberlake receiving criticism and turning off comments on his Instagram account.

However, this did not stop him from premiering his newest single “Selfish” on Thursday, the first from his latest album, Everything I Thought It Was, set to be released on March 15.

In response, Spears’ fans rallied together to push her 13-year-old song of the same name above Timberlake’s on the charts. This ultimately led to her song topping iTunes on Friday. However, Timberlake’s NSYNC bandmate, Lance Bass, does not believe the situation is bothering the “My Love” singer, as he is too busy to be paying attention to it.

Overall, Spears’ apology demonstrates her willingness to take responsibility for her actions (which she honestly should not have needed to do) and her desire to make amends with those she may have hurt with her memoir.
