BJP wants to change country’s history by removing name of Mahatma Gandhi: Lalan Singh | India News

PATNA: JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh on Wednesday said that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre was so rattled by unity among the allies of INDIA bloc that it has gone on the name changing spree. He said the BJP wanted to change even the history of the country by removing the name of Mahatma Gandhi and putting the name of its leader Narendra Modi in place of Bapu.
Responding to media queries on the growing row over the replacing of word ‘India’ by ‘Bharat’ in an invitation card, the Munger MP also said they (BJP leaders) have become totally nervous by the ‘INDIA’ word. “Are you not observing clearcut nervousness on their faces? But what will happen only by changing the names? There is strong incredulity among the public of this country towards the BJP-led government. How will they remove the growing incredulity from the public?” the JD(U) chief asked.
Reacting to the controversy that has arisen following invitation cards for a G20 dinner in Delhi mentioning Droupadi Murmu as ‘President of Bharat’ instead of ‘President of India’, Singh said the Union government was doing a drama. “Let us allow them to continue with their drama. These days, when you board a domestic flight, you will hear an announcement that water and electricity are being provided by Modi Ji,” he said.
Responding to a query on the forthcoming special session of the Parliament, JD(U) chief said, “Let them first come out with the agenda of the special session. Has it ever happened in the past that the government called a special session without announcing the agenda? None of the members of the Lok Sabha has any idea about the topic for discussion during the special session.”
The JD(U) leader said they (BJP leaders) want to abolish the democratic procedures in the country. They want to run democracy in their own way.
Reacting to Union home minister Amit Shah’s proposed visit to Jhanjharpur in Madhubani district for a political rally, Singh said, “Shah is free to roam anywhere (in Bihar). Who is stopping him from coming to Bihar?”
