NEW DELHI: BJP on Friday took a jibe at the opposition parties’ INDIA bloc meeting, saying its only takeaway is that they have “formally and politically” accepted their “give-and-take principle”.
At a press conference, party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said in the third meeting of the “so-called opposition alliance”, there was no strategy to address the concerns of farmers, women and children. “There was no vision for the development of India, no roadmap for the upliftment of the poor… the third meeting of the so-called opposition alliance did not even acknowledge the threat to India posed by terrorism, radicalisation and secessionist forces,” he said.
The only takeaway from the meeting held in Mumbai is that the opposition parties have “formally and politically accepted their give-and-take principle”, the fomer Union minister said.
“Their only recurrent theme is to abuse (Prime Minister ) Narendra Modi as much as possible… Their only competition is on who exceeds whom in cursing and abusing Modi ji,” he added.
Saying that the INDIA alliance is very much familiar with the idea of give-and-take, Prasad said that the entire 2G scam was “give-and-take”, the entire coal scam was “give-and-take”, and so was the entire Commonwealth Scam.
“The politics of the opposition is based on transactions, there is no vision of development! They do not have any vision for India. Did any authentic option emerge in their meeting for the welfare of the poor? Was anything concrete said for the women and children of the country? Was any roadmap presented for the industrial and infrastructural development of the country?”Prasad questioned.
Asked about the remarks of Rahul Gandhi on China, Prasad said the Congress member has become the spokesperson of China.
“They ask for evidence from the Army, while our Army did a daring act in Galwan. Today, all roads and culverts have been built from Ladakh to Arunachal. Today Army trucks are running everywhere,” Prasad further said.
In Mumbai, Union minister Piyush Goyal said differences among the opposition parties have come to the fore as they have not been able to finalise their agenda nor their leader. “We heard that Mamata Banerjee was so upset that she walked out and left the meeting. The parties are talking about seat sharing as far as possible showing that they are unable to reach any understanding.” Goyal took a jibe at the INDIA bloc saying, “the opposition alliance has become “Anda (egg) alliance.”
