BJP cites ‘Congress past’ to slam Rahul Gandhi for his China remark | India News

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Sunday hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on China’s alleged occupation of Indian territory and his “smooth ride” to the Ladakh region.
Senior party leader and former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “They (Congress) ask for proof of the Balakot and Uri attacks. What can we even expect from them? Today, when Rahul talks about Ladakh, I want to ask him if he remembers how much of India’s land was captured by China before and after the 1962 war. The then defence minister A K Antony had said in Parliament that ‘we don’t want to irritate China by erecting infrastructure’. This is your (Congress party’s) past.”
Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan said it was good to see that some times Rahul and Congress leaders were unfurling the tricolour at Lal Chowk in Srinagar without any fear and some times they were enjoying “carefree bike racing on the glittering roads of Ladakh” built by the Modi government.
“Before 2014, who could have thought that some day, even Rahul Gandhi would be able to hoist the flag of Bharat Mata at Lal Chowk in Kashmir and enjoy tourism in Ladakh, which Pandit Nehru called a barren land. I challenge the Congress party to show any such picture before 2014 in which Rahul Gandhi hoisted the tricolour at Lal Chowk or roamed so carefree in Ladakh,” Pradhan said. Pradhan further said Congressmen should at least thank Modi ji for this.
