Birthday boy Ranveer Singh as a romantic hero: Band Baaja Baaraat to Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

[ad_1]

“I always wanted to be a mainstream Hindi film actor,” proclaimed Ranveer Singh in an interview. He is a popular hero, yet he differs from earlier figures of a similar nature. He isn’t like any of his contemporaries.  In spite of this, Ranveer has yet succeeded in establishing a niche for himself in Bollywood that few of his peers can match.

Ranveer Singh

His first stint in the Bollywood industry was opposite Anushka Sharma in the 2010 sleeper hit Band Baaja Baaraat directed by Maneesh Sharma. The film was primarily shot in Delhi and focused on the relationship between the ambitious, self-possessed Shruti Kakkar (Anushka Sharma) and the easygoing, laid-back Bittoo Sharma (played by Ranveer). The two initially hate each other yet work together on a project before breaking apart when love causes problems. The rest of the story is focused on how the two make amends. Ranveer’s act successfully captured the charm of a boy next door, and because of how well he controlled the regional mannerisms and language, everyone mistakenly believed he was from Delhi. Several people praised Ranveer as a talent to watch out for after learning that he would spend days practising for the part in several colleges affiliated with Delhi University.

The character of Bittoo has a straightforward personality arc: a carelessly sexist youth who develops into a respectable man after being “struck” with love. As a result, Ranveer has any character crutches to lean on. Ranveer excels at blending his real-life persona as the energetic and quirky man with that of the character, which is required for the role. He portrays the behaviour of the Haryanvi local effectively, and his restless energy and charisma are obvious on screen. During the movie, he does an effective Haryanvi accent and dialect while calling business binness.

The actor has  also consistently undermined stereotypical ideas of what it means to be a stereotypical with his wardrobe decisions, both on and off-screen. Whether it’s through his sensitive treatment of masculinity in his filmography or his outlandish demeanour in real life, he can be counted on to defy any preconceived notions about what it means to be a guy or a Hindi film star. He regularly embraces his effeminate side and is surprisingly at ease with himself, attributing this to the powerful ladies who surround him.

In the much awaited movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Ranveer Singh is now enthralling viewers as Rocky Randhawa. The recently released trailer, which gives a sneak peek into an enchanted story of love, conflict, and unusual humour, has gone viral online. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt play the main characters in this love drama, which is directed by the great Karan Johar. Although viewers savoured the hilarious banter in the trailer, they couldn’t help but detect a recognisable charm in Ranveer’s interpretation of Rocky Randhawa. That brought back memories of his iconic Bittoo Sharma Band Baaja Baaraat and took me back to 2010. His outstanding performance not only garnered critical acclaim but also won the hearts of viewers all throughout the country. Ranveer perfectly captured Bittoo’s emotions and mannerisms, perfectly capturing the spirit of a Delhi boy with his compelling screen presence, vivacious demeanour, and flawless representation. Even though Bittoo is a character from 2010, the audience will always remember him.
