Bajrang Dal: Sangrur court summons INC president Mallikarjun Kharge in Rs 100 crore defamation case for damaging Bajrang Dal reputation | India News

PATIALA: The Sangrur court has issued notice to the Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in a defamation case of Rs 100 crores for allegedly defaming Bajrang Dal in his recent ‘Karnataka election manifesto by comparing it with PFI and other Talibani organizations.
The petition was filed by Sangrur based Hitesh Bhardwaj who is founder and National President of Hindu Suraksha Parishad following which the court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Sangrur, Ramandeep Kaur had summoned MM Kharge who is supposed to file reply in the court by July 10. The plaintiff, Hitesh Bhardwaj, has also sought Rs 10 lakh as legal damages.
Bhardwaj claimed that Kharge issued an election manifesto before the state of Karnataka for the election and the election manifesto was circulated in Sangrur, Punjab through social media. Bhardwaj said that in the Para 10 of manifesto, defamatory statements against Bajrang Dal, a unit of Hindu Suraksha Parishad were issued by declaring to ban the organization and comparing it to outlawed terrorist organizations like Popular Front of India and similar other outlawed organisations.
“The allegation in form of comparison of Bajrang Dal Hind with PFI and other Talibani organization without any basic greatly maims and impairs the name and honor of members of Bajrang Dal Hind and the Hindu Suraksha Parishad who number in the crores and also defames follower of Lord Hanuman Ji who are reverentially worshipped by crores of Hindu practitioners”, reads the court summons.
Petitioner’s counsel Advocate Lalit Kumar Garg, said, “Mallikarjun Kharge has to file reply by July 10 in the defamation case in Sangrur court. Being a social organization Bajrang Dal has done a lot of humanitarian works but the organization has been defamed in the election manifesto in early May this year following which a petition was filed in the court”.
