Asked to switch seat, another MP quits YSRCP | India News

VIJAYAWADA: Just days after the resignation of Machilipatnam MP V Balasoury and Kurnool MP S Sanjeev Kumar, governing YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh received another setback on Tuesday when a third Lok Sabha member, Lavu Srikrishnadevarayalu (Krishna), who represented the Narasaraopet seat, quit the party and also resigned as an MP.
Sources said CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had asked Krishna to contest from Guntur Lok Sabha seat as he wanted to field a candidate from the backward classes from Narasaraopet. Jagan is believed to have offered Krishna a Rajya Sabha seat in case he lost in Guntur.
However, Krishna refused the offer as he did not want to take the risk, considering Guntur is a TDP stronghold, sources said. The MP indicated that uncertainty and confusion over the ticket issue prompted him to exit the party.
While Balasoury has decided to join actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena, Krishna has not yet made his next move public.
Curiously, YSRCP’s chances are expected to brighten in case Jana Sena fields Balasouri from Guntur, as many in alliance partner TDP are opposing his candidature.
