MUMBAI: Saugata Gupta, MD and CEO of Marico, has been appointed as the chairman of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI).
Partha Sinha, president, response, BCCL – publisher of the Times of India and the Economic Times – was elected vice chairman. Sudhanshu Vats, deputy managing director, Pidilite Industries, was appointed honorary treasurer.
“Leading ASCI at this juncture is a privilege. We are in the midst of an extraordinary opportunity to reimagine what responsible advertising means and how consumers need protection in the digital age. ASCI is at the very forefront of this effort as it collaboratively shapes the industry,” Gupta said.
ASCI is the leading self-regulatory organisation in India and deals with communication guidelines in both offline and online advertising. It recently launched the ‘ASCI Academy’ to boost self-regulation during creative process.
