NEW DELHI: The AIADMK on Tuesday passed a resolution against Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai for making defamatory remarks against late chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
A meeting of the district secretaries of the party chaired by AIADMK general secretary and former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami condemned Annamalai for tarnishing the reputation of Jayalalithaa.
“A condemnation resolution has been passed against K Annamalai where he gave a statement tainting the name of our leader Jayalalithaa. Our party leaders and cadres are sad and restless,” Palaniswami said.
Annamalai has been speaking against the AIADMK in public forums since the past few months.
The AIADMK has accused the BJP of breaking the alliance dharma and has urged its national leadership to take note of Annamalai’s constant attacks.
In an interview to TOI, Annamalai had said that many administrations in the state were corrupt and former chief ministers had been convicted. This, he said was the reason why the state had become one of the most corrupt in the country and added that his party would question any government that had swindled the public exchequer.
His remarks have left the AIADMK leadership enraged.
