[ad_1]

NEW DELHI: Amazon.com announced plans on Wednesday to lay off several hundred employees from its Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios divisions. Mike Hopkins, the Senior Vice President of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, addressed the decision in a note to employees, saying that the company aims to shift its focus and resources toward content and product initiatives with greater impact.
Hopkins said that this move involves reducing or discontinuing investments in certain areas. The note, as reported by Reuters, indicated that the layoffs would primarily affect employees in the United States, with notifications being sent out on Wednesday. “We’ve identified opportunities to reduce or discontinue investments in certain areas while increasing our investment and focus on content and product initiatives that deliver the most impact,” Mike Hopkins, senior vice president of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, told employees.
Employees in most other regions are expected to be informed by the end of the week. This restructuring reflects Amazon’s strategy to streamline operations and concentrate on areas that promise the most significant returns and customer engagement.
