Alia Bhatt, a committed animal welfare advocate, actively raises awareness through initiatives like supporting the documentary series Poacher, exposing the harsh truths of ivory trade. Recently, she revealed her deep-rooted love for animals, attributing it to her childhood. Notably, her daughter, Raha, is growing up surrounded by animals and shares a natural love for them.
In a recent interview with a leading news portal, Alia revealed her deep connection with wildlife, highlighting the innate bond with nature during childhood and the calming effect of being around animals.
She further said, “I’m saying this firsthand literally witnessing my daughter grow up around animals and she has like a natural love and excitement around them.”
Alia emphasised how as we age, our minds get overwhelmed with life’s complexities, but she highlighted the scientific fact that being surrounded by greenery naturally brings about a sense of calmness.
Alia also shared that she rescued kittens with her sister Shaheen, fostered them, and found them new homes or sometimes kept them. Alia fondly remembered how her mother, Soni Razdan, also grew attached to these animals. She reflected on this affection as something that naturally developed within her.
The cast of Poacher includes actors Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Ankith Madhav, Kani Kusruti, Suraj Pops, Ranjita Menon, Vinod Sherawat, and Snoop Dinesh. The series is directed by Emmy Award winner Richie Mehta, with Alia Bhatt serving as the show’s executive producer.
Poacher is slated to be released on OTT on February 23, 2024.
