NEW DELHI: After being sworn in as the deputy chief minister for an unprecedented fifth time, Ajit Pawar updated his social media credentials on Sunday afternoon.
His Twitter profile now displays his new designation as the ‘Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra,’ along with his role as an MLA from Baramati and his previous position as the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Ajit Pawar,64, has held the position of deputy CM twice during former Congress CM Prithviraj Chavan’s tenure (November 2010-September 2012, October 2012 – September 2014). He briefly served as deputy CM for a third time (November 23-26, 2019) alongside BJP’s CM Devendra Fadnavis, but their government collapsed within a mere 80 hours.
However, he made a comeback as the deputy cm for the fourth time (December 2019-June 2022) under the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by ex-CM Uddhav Thackeray. And now, Ajit Pawar has achieved the milestone of becoming the Deputy CM for the fifth time on Sunday, this time under Shiv Sena’s CM, Eknath Shinde.
