NEW DELHI: Air India New York (JFK)-Delhi nonstop on Monday had to be diverted to London Heathrow due to a medical emergency onboard.
The Boeing 777 operating as AI-102 was in Norwegian aerospace when the medical emergency happened and the pilots decided to divert to nearby London to save the passenger’s life. The airline’s ground staff at Heathrow made arrangement to ensure quick medical care on landing in London.
“There was a group of seven people travelling together. One of them took ill. When the aircraft landed in London, the indisposed passenger and two others with the passenger got off at Heathrow. The aircraft should take off for Delhi at about 5.30 pm (GMT or 11 pm IST on Monday),” an AI official said.
