NEW DELHI: Budget carrier Air India Express is planning to increase its flight operations by 40% in the next fiscal year. The expansion will be fueled by the addition of new aircraft to its fleet.

The international network may see a slight increase, according to reliable sources.Currently, Air India Express operates 350 daily flights with a fleet of 69 planes. The airline has a total of 1,300 pilots, including 400 from AirAsia India and 400 in training.
In the upcoming summer schedule, the airline plans to launch flights to Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. By December of this year, Air India Express aims to complete the acquisition of its order for 50 Boeing 737 Max planes. So far, 13-14 planes have already been inducted into the fleet.
Additionally, it is anticipated that the merger between AirAsia India and Air India Express will be finalized by the second quarter of the next fiscal year. The integration of AirAsia India’s fleet into Air India Express is expected to be completed by July-August, once the merger is concluded. Currently, Air India Express has three A320neo planes from AirAsia India’s fleet under its air operator permit.
