After hearing her scream, family members and villagers caught Sandeep Kumar (34) while he was trying to escape. Videos of the cop in underwear, tied with a rope and being thrashed by locals were circulated on social media. He was taken to SN Medical College in Agra for treatment. Taking cognisance of the videos, police commissioner Preetinder Singh ordered Sandeep’s suspension.

SI molested girl for two months, alleges family
On Monday, an FIR was registered against Kumar under IPC sections 376 and 452. The FIR stated that “the SI along with another policeman reached the woman’s house around 11pm on Sunday. Kumar first knocked at the entrance door and said they had come for an inquiry and wanted to meet her father. Suspecting foul play based on previous incidents of assault, the woman refused to open the door. Later, Sandeep jumped through the roof, entered the house and raped the girl”. Meanwhile, locals in large numbers protested outside the police station demanding suspension of all personnel posted there.
DCP Sonam Kumar said, “The accused was produced before court and sent to jail. We have also ordered a departmental inquiry against him.”
According to the woman’s family, Kumar used to do rounds of the village daily. They alleged he had been molesting the girl for the past two months. “When we objected, the cop threatened to implicate us in a false case,” her uncle said.
The cop was drunk when he was caught,” a neighbour added.
