Acquitted: Three acquitted by court in ex CM Chandrababu Naidu’s Alipiri blast case | India News

TIRUPATI: Three persons accused in former Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu‘s 2003 Alipiri blast case were acquitted by the district court in Tirupati on Friday.
The persons acquitted by the court were identified as G Ramamohan Reddy (Tirupati), S Narasimha Reddy (Kadapa) and Keshava.
It may be recalled that Naidu, who was the then Chief minister of the state was on his way to Tirumala to present Pattu vastrams to Lord Venkateswara on the annual Brahmotsavams eve in October 2003, when People’s war group naxals targeted him with a claymore mines blast.
After the Alipiri blasts, the special investigation team (SIT) named 33 persons including senior members of the People’s war group and others as accused in the case.
Earlier, the sessions court in Tirupati had. acquitted Kollam Gangi Reddy (red sanders smuggling kingpin) and N Panduranga Reddy of Kadapa.
According to the court sources, the three acquitted by the district court, were earlier sentenced to undergo four years imprisonment by the sessions court.
But after an appeal filed by them was admitted by the district court, the trio were finally set free after being acquitted in the case by the district court.
