A Raja stirs another controversy; calls Hindu religion a menace

CHENNAI: DMK MP A Raja continued to stir the pot with his remarks on Sanatana Dharma and Hindu religion. On Tuesday, he dubbed Hinduism “a menace”. Speaking during a debate on a private channel on Tuesday, Raja said, “Hindu religion is a menace not only to India but to the entire world.”
The DMK leader, who recently compared Sanatana Dharma to HIV and leprosy, caused yet another storm, stating, “India is the reason for the global disease called caste, dividing people on caste lines, dividing people on economic lines. Caste cannot be used only for social evil. It depends on economic evil as well. Indians living in other countries also propagate caste in the name of Hindu religion. So, Hindu religion is the biggest menace not only to India but a menace to the entire world.”
Condemning the speech of Raja, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai blamed DMK for the caste divide in the state. “DMK is the principal reason for creating caste divide & hatred in TN, and the DMK MP has the audacity to blame Sanatana Dharma for the mess they made,” said Annamalai.
The controversy surrounding Sanatana Dharma doesn’t seem to die down after it was triggered by sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin when he equated Sanatana Dharma to mosquitoes, dengue, malaria and Covid. Raja further intensified the attack on Sanatana Dharma by equating it to HIV and leprosy.
Though chief minister M K Stalin tried to control the damage by saying that the comments of Udhayanidhi were distorted, Udhayanidhi by posting the image of mosquito repellent made it clear that he stood by his comments.
Meanwhile, HR and CE minister P K Sekar Babu during a public function in Chennai on Tuesday said the BJP was raking up the Sanatana Dharma issue to cover their failures.
“Annamalai’s ‘En Mann En Makkal’ padayatra is a failure and to cover it up, they are speaking about Sanatana Dharma. Equality is the bedrock of DMK government and every DMK minister has the right to speak about Sanatana Dharma. In fact, equality and Sanatana Dharma are two sides of the same coin,” said Sekar Babu.
