NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Thursday granted seven days of police custody for the four suspects arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach. The prosecution sought a 15-day remand, but the court of additional sessions judge Hardeep Kaur approved a week’s custody, allowing for an extension if required.
The FIR against the four suspects-identified as Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Neelam Verma and Amol Shinde – includes Sections of the IPC and UAPA.The charges involve provocation with the intent to cause a riot, criminal conspiracy, trespass, obstructing public servants, and assault to deter public servants from their duty, and sections related to terrorist acts and conspiracy under UAPA. The court’s decision to grant police custody aligns with the prosecution’s assertion that a comprehensive investigation into the breach and its implications is necessary.

Additional public prosecutor Atul Srivashtava informed the court about a pamphlet seized from the accused that portrayed the PM as a “missing person” and allegedly declared a reward from a Swiss bank. “He is our representative to the world. They have declared our PM as a proclaimed offender,” Srivashtava said, emphasising the significance of the PM.
The prosecution argued the accused jumped into an area where MPs were engaged in discussions, indicating an intention to strike terror. It stressed the need to examine their links, source of funds and involvement of accomplices.
