30 little-known companies add Rs 300 crore to TMC kitty | India News

KOLKATA: Over 30 little-known companies from Kolkata and two from outside West Bengal contributed over Rs 300 crore to Trinamool Congress’s kitty through electoral bonds, according to details submitted by SBI to the Election Commission of India.
Some of these also funded other parties through electoral bonds worth over Rs 90 crore. The list includes Transways Exim, Chennai Green Woods, Avees Trading and Finance, Prarambh Securities, Westwell Gases, Mishrilall Mines, SKP Merchants, OM Metals, Sengupta & Sengupta, Himalayan Endeavour, Ramesh Agarwal CS Bottling Plant, Sandeep Auto, Ashis Finance and Tivoli Park Apartments, among others.
Some of these are operating companies, while the rest are investment firms. The largest among them is Chennai Green Woods, a Ramky Group company engaged in infrastructure development. It donated Rs 40 crore to TMC and Rs 15 crore to Congress.
Transways Exim, headquartered in Kolkata and involved in the liquor business, paid Rs 19 crore to TMC and bought bonds for Congress too.
Avees Trading and Finance, another Kolkata firm, donated a total of Rs 110 crore, of which Rs 46 crore went to TMC and Rs 53 crore to Congress. Ahmedabad-based Prarambh Securities paid Rs 38 crore to TMC and Rs 33 crore to BJP.
