28 smart virtual clinics (SVCs) launched in Bengaluru | India News

NEW DELHI: A Rs 21 crore project aimed at improving teleconsultation services was launched in Bengaluru on Saturday. The project was designed collaboratively by the Bengaluru Smart City Limited and BBMP and was officially inaugurated by chief minister Basavaraja Bommai in Malleswaram.
The programme aims to establish 28 smart virtual clinics (SVCs) in Bengaluru, providing easy access to healthcare services for residents of the city. The SVCs will be operational in the premises of Primary Health Centers in Palace Guttahalli, Netaji Circle, Subedar Palya, Gandhi Gram, and Nagappa Blocks in the Malleswaram constituency. They are equipped with testing and treatment facilities for problems related to the heart, lungs, eyes, ears, skin, and other organs, and are fitted with digital stethoscopes, glucometers, dermascopes, ECG machines, and other equipment.
MLA CN Ashwathnarayan confirmed that the project had received a total of Rs 21 crores in funding.
In addition to this, a Central Clinical Command Centre (CCCC) has been set up in the Janatha Bazar building in Sadashivanagar, which is staffed by 20 specialist doctors who can provide online consultations to patients at the SVCs.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Rakesh Singh, Administrator, BBMP, Dr K. Trilokachandra, Health Commissioner, BBMP, Dr RL Deepak, Commissioner, BBMP West, and K Srinivas, MD Bengaluru Smart City Limited.
Chandra told TOI that the Rs 21 cr expenditure is incurred by Bengaluru Smart City Limited. Whereas, the BBMP is providing operating expenses, having appointed the 20 specialist doctors for the project, he added.
