AYODHYA: As the count of pilgrims visiting Ram Temple in Ayodhya swells, the state govt has set the deadline to finish some of the development works. To facilitate the movement of vehicles and pedestrians in the temple town, two new road corridors will be made operational by Apr 15 ahead of Ram Navmi celebrations on April 17.
Priority has been accorded to Ksheer Sagar Path and Sugriva Path, which are being developed to link Ayodhya Dham railway station to Ram Path and Hanuman Garhi with Janmabhoomi Path, respectively.
The govt has already sanctioned Rs 49 crore for developing the three corridors, which includes the construction cost and funds for acquiring private land. While Sugriva Path would be developed with a budget of Rs 12 crore, Ksheer Sagar path would be developed with a budget of Rs 20 crore. The third route, Awadh Aagman Path, would span over 300 metres, linking the railway station road and Ram Path. It has been conceived as an alternative route for movement of motor vehicles during peak festivals and celebrations such as Deepotsava. A budget of Rs 17 crore has been set aside to develop the optional route.
Sharing details about the Ksheer Sagar Path, a senior PWD officer said the width of the corridor would be 21 metres, out of which a road carriageway would be developed over 15 metres. Half a dozen ashrams and dharamshalas along with 23 private buildings and 38 shops have been identified during the surveys which would have to be razed to develop the corridor.
The administration has already paid the compensation to some families after ascertaining their credentials. Ayodhya divisional commissioner Gaurav Dayal said, “New corridors are needed to handle the rush of the devotees. Traffic regulations and diversions would be put in place to streamline the movement of motor vehicles. Once the corridors and road stretches are ready to handle the rush, it would be possible to earmark drop off points at Ram Path in the close vicinity of the Ram temple. Both Ksheer Sagar Path and Sugriva Path are crucial and work on them has been expedited.”
