NEW DELHI: As many as 16 individuals and firms were honoured with the 24th Helen Keller Awards for their pivotal roles in fostering an inclusive work environment and championing the integration of disabled individuals into the mainstream workforce.
The 16 awardees hail from nine states across India, showcasing a diverse representation in their commitment to inclusivity.
Ummer Farook KK, Dr. Vaibhav Bhandari, and Dr. Rajalakshmi SJ were recognized in the “Role Model Person with Disabilities” category.
The “Role Model Supporters of Increased Employment Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities” category saw winners Dr. Rajdeep Manwani, Prateek Madhav and Ashwin Kumar V, with Amali Naik receiving Jury Appreciation.
Among the 16 awardees, three received jury appreciation for efforts made in promoting diversity and inclusivity.
In the “Role Model Companies/NGOs/Institutions” category, TVS Motor Company, Atypical Advantage, Amar Seva Sangam, and Alamba Charitable Trust emerged as winners.
NatWest India and Mitti Social Initiatives Foundation received Jury Appreciation Awards in the same category.
Krishnakant Mane, Sumarty G and Rakhi Pandey were declared the winners in the “Role Model Entrepreneurs with Disabilities” category.
The awards, a joint initiative of the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) and LTIMindtree, provide a platform to commend those committed to creating a more inclusive employment landscape.
The collaboration between NCPEDP and LTIMindtree, spanning eight years, aims to empower PWDs and inspire a more inclusive and sustainable job market. The NCPEDP-LTIMindtree Helen Keller Awards, now in their 24th year, is recognized amongst esteemed accolades in India for those contributing to the integration of disabled individuals into the mainstream workforce.
Emphasizing the Awards’ role in recognizing individuals and institutions working towards inclusivity, Arman Ali, the executive director of NCPEDP said, “Helen Keller Awards celebrate indomitable will, passion and resilience. For 24 years, the Awards have identified incredible individuals and institutions doing exemplary work of promoting employment, equality and diversity in the workplace. The outcomes of this persistent effort are gratifying yet we know we have miles to go to completely integrate disability into the mainstream.”
Debashis Chatterjee, CEO and Managing Director of LTIMindtree, underscored the belief that providing skilling and employment opportunities for disabled individuals empowers them to integrate into the mainstream job market and earn dignified livelihoods.
