BENGALURU: Professional networking site LinkedIn has said in a report that Thursday is the new Friday of the week, with people becoming more conscious of maintaining worklife balance.
As many as 79% of the respondents in the survey stated that Friday was their least favourite day of the week to go to the office. On the other hand, Monday was when employees felt the need to ‘structure’ their work and be most productive.
Up to 50% said that they would want to spend their Fridays with family and friends, while the rest wanted to finish their pending work soon and have an early weekend. Another concept prevalent at workplaces is ‘loud leaving’, the research said.

“A majority of workers in India (60%) say they have experienced loud leaving — when managers visibly leave the workplace, making it known that it’s okay to shut down and stop working at a rea sonable time,” LinkedIn said.
Deskbombing, where a colleague comes up to the desk unannounced, for a chat, is liked by people. Up to 62% of respondents in India see desk bombing as a great way to have impromptu conversations. And 60% of GenZ workers in India have experienced deskbombing and find it useful, the survey said.
Nearly threequarters of respondents in India miss bonding with colleagues during their ‘chai breaks’ when they are working remotely. Another trend pointed out in the report is ‘monk mode’, where employees are taking up only one task at a time to complete instead of multitasking. This also includes shutting themselves up in a meeting room or switching off the mobile to stay focused on work.
Another 78% of those surveyed said they are now going to the office by choice. The report surveyed 1,001 workers in India aged above 18.
